Amarillo Weekend

July 12, 2010

Our long 4th of July weekend took us all the way up to Dorie’s hometown, Amarillo. The whole Burdett family came up to hang out at Shannon and Monnie’s house, swim, visit Shannon’s amazing ranches, shoot fireworks, and just generally catch up. Henry had a blast playing with his cousins, running around in the wilderness, and observing some questionable fireworks-handling techniques courtesy of his Uncle Minsok. He also got to visit the zoo in Abilene on the way back and hand-feed a giraffe. It was fantastic to see everybody, and Shannon and Monnie did an amazing job hosting the group. It may just become a tradition.

Building Design

Here’s a little video of Henry describing the features of a castle he built. Sounds very functional.

Hot Summer Fun

June 26, 2010

It’s been a crazy month. With school out, camp season is in full swing, and we’ve seen a number of social engagements. Trips to the lake, fathers’ day, and a visit to the Burdett ranch in Florence, TX, have all been a blast. George continues to get cuter and more engaging every day. He’s eating solid foods (well, somewhat solid) like sweet potatoes and bananas, and he now boasts two very small, sharp teeth. Henry is a full-on big kid now, and even got his first trip to Schlitterbahn and his first sleepover at a friend’s house taken care of this month. On the downside, we lost three chickens to a big fat raccoon, and Dorie had a root canal. So you win some, you lose some. All around though, good times.
